11 Things To Check At Your Lehenga Fitting

BY Sakshi | 18 Apr, 2018 | 4 min read

The final lehenga fitting- which may be about 15 days before your wedding, and even though by now you know exactly how it's gonna look, you still have butterflies in your tummy! Yes, the final bridal fitting is the last time you can make any sort of tweaks or changes to your lehenga, so it's essential you check for these small little points!

Don't wear dark lipstick to the fitting

Never wear a dark lipstick to your fitting, sometimes while wearing your blouse it can stain it specially if your lehenga is lighter . You don't want to be sending a fresh lehenga over at the dry cleaners before you get into it.

Check the zips, and stiches

Work the zips, check the embroidery or the work on the lehenga closely- check for any overstitches or places where the work might be coming off or missing. And do this on every part of the outfit- the lehenga skirt, the blouse and the dupatta!

Try it with the same lingerie as the wedding day

Now, this is essential. Make sure to try out your bridal lehenga's final fitting with the same bra and a body shaper if you're planning on wearing one to see how good or bad the blouse and lehenga fits- you might want more padding or lessen it.

Check if the lehenga stays up without the dori

The good stores will always give you a hook along with the dori. The hook is meant to make your lehenga stay in place and the dori is just extra support . If this is not the case with you then the dori can bunch up with the weight of holding the lehenga up and this causes a rather not-so-nice looking situation

Check: Is the lehenga digging into the tummy?

In the run-up to the wedding, say at your Mehendi and your Engagement, drinking, eating and staying up can take a toll on your tummy, making it bloated. We've had brides complaining of rashes and pain because of it. So make sure the lehenga has some allowance and is not super tight on the fitting- so that you can be comfortable even with a bloated belly.

Try it with your bridal heels or shoes

Also, wear the same bridal heels so you know if the length of the lehenga is right. It should not sweep the floor too much neither should it show too much of your shoes. So make sure it's just right!

Is the cancan right?

After you're done trying on the lehenga skirt with the right shoes, check in the mirror if the cancan is right- whether it's sticking out from under the lehenga, whether you want it to be more or less. The flare should be just right!

Wear your bridal jewelry

Yes, with at least everything on the top half of the body- check to see if the jewellery is sitting right- is it covering too much of the neckline or just how much you want it to? Also, is your jewelry getting caught in your embroidery? That's another thing you need to check- it can get very annoying on the wedding!

Try your dupatta drape

This might seem like a lot of work- but this will help you figure a. if the drape you decided is looking good b. if it's comfortable and c. if you want to change it in any way- add or get rid of stuff. This is the final chance you're gonna get to even make the smallest tweaks!

Sit, stand, dance in your lehenga

Most important thing to do! Move about in your lehenga, sit and even shake it up a little- see if it's absolutely comfortable and manageable since the next time you'll be wearing it will be on your wedding!

Get lots of photos from every angle

From every angle and while doing all the activities we suggested! That way you can check whether you have a tire while sitting or whether you are revealing more than you intend to. Plus, you get to see how gorgeous you look!
