Unconventional Lehenga Colours Bollywood Gave The World! ( Psst, Some Amazing Inspiration Inside!)

I'm sure Bollywood is your biggest reference point - at least it's for me. While copies of Deepika's Sabyasachi look might fly off the shelves right about now, we also need to look at a few ideas that really have the potential to make your look stand out. Yeah yeah, red lehengas are dime a dozen and so are the conventional pinks - but though it's massy, Bollywood also gave us a few looks that are so unconventional that we are literally salivating. A nice mixnmatch look, creams and lilacs and even neon greens and cheery yellows. A look at what we really loved at WMG.
Lilac is such a sublime hue but we never ever think of using it at weddings. But why not? says Sonam and wears it flamboyantly at a wedding in Aisha. The light lilac dupatta sits prettily with a white lehenga and is teamed with traditional jadau sets to give it that oomph.
Trend: Wear the dupatta across your bosom instead of around - so cute! Also, keep everything subtle except the dupatta - use as much embellishment as possible!
The new poster of Bajirao Mastani is making us so so happy. #newbridalinspirationalert. Anju Modi, our style crush really got that done nicely - in a mint light green and pink number, so dreamy.
Trend: Take cues from Deepika on how to nail the double dupatta trend - keep one simple and the other heavy.
Ram Leela taught us how to take tradition and make it cool ! Red, white and black with tons of unique bandhani and banarsi fabrics gave Deepika such a different look. If a Garba night is part of your wedding plans then you just found your outfit
Trend: Mix different fabrics to keep your look edgy. Deepika is wearing velvet , brocade and bandhani!
That song "maa da ladla bigad gaya" really took Priyanka's brocade lehenga look to another level. The dark green lehenga with cuts on the sides and a sequin bikini blouse is really unique and different. The colour, usually reserved for an older crowd suddenly becomes hot, now that's something!
Trend: Slits are a great way of wearing a lehenga - try them out and see!
Yellow may have made you turn up your nose before Ash totally killed it in this sunny yellow lehenga. Vibrant, happy and fun- yellow is perfect for morning weddings !
Trend: If you have tummy issues, then this is a great way to drape your dupatta
Brick red, full sleeves, no skin but yet so effective - Kareena's 3 Idiots lehenga is all heritage and tradition rolled into an adorable bundle. The jhumkis, the nath and the achkan kind of cut is really for the tall girl, and the colour is varying degrees of brick orangish-red.
Trend: Achkan-style lehenga dress? Opt for new ideas and a burnt orange hue to make things work!
Finally a neon sighting - the lime neon lehenga with mirror-work blouse is all kinds of awesome. Team it with a pink dupatta and you are set. Alia really carries off this hue with effortless ease and really, the non-fussy hair and makeup really nail this look.
Trend: Mirror-work blouses are so so in these days - just pick a hue and go crazy!
Sonam Kapoor in Dolly Ki Doli
Purple - a truly unique shade for a wedding. It's really bold and yet it's juts one colour, so it stands out. The blouse is super embellished and that's not all, it really makes for a fun bride.
Trend: 10 inch sleeves are so the trend these days, try them out!
While monotone is still the best bet, a DDLJ type colour can really rev up the style quotient at a wedding. Enter, parrot green, a colour that really makes the wearer feel like a billion bucks - because the bright can always keep you steady as the centre of attention.
Trend: Choose one colour and stick to it - seems to be working, if you ask us!
