A few trips to travel cheap in Maldives are to stay on a local island as opposed to one owned by a mega-resort, travel via public ferries instead of private speedboats, opt for the Maldivian menu – which is ridiculously yummy and affordable. Also, it’s a big downer for a girls trip that is on a budget – you can’t buy/carry alcohol off the island apart the hotels. So if you are big on drinking this might not be the place for you.
