If Real weddings are the most exciting things on Wed Me Good (FYI- guys all the information about the vendors, boutiques, makeup artists etc in a real wedding are given at the END of the post together. A lot of you haven't noticed that and are asking a lot of questions about Yasmeens wedding vendors which we just featured. All the info is on there people!) , then our "Sister" series is perhaps the second most exciting thing on Wed Me Good! Right from Juhi's gota patti anarkalis, to Masooms fashion forward outfits, Mandira's pastel colors and now Astha's saris - these sisters of the bride/groom are definite style inspirations for planning your own wardrobe for a wedding in the family!
Meet Astha
Her brothers wedding was the first one after hers, and hence quite a big deal for her too. She was living in London and flew down from there for the big day. She stuck to saris for both events, but both her looks were very different . A shimmering chantilly lace for the evening before, and a beautiful, traditional ritu kumar for the day of the wedding !
LOVE this entire look. The contrasting prints, the colors and the large kadas with the jewellery and the gajra in the hair!
Astha says "The wedding was a morning affair and took place keeping all Hindu rituals and ceremonies in mind and I had to play my part of being the only girl! Infact my brothers wedding was the first wedding after mine, so it was a big deal for me as well. The red saree is from Ritu Kumar that I had bought as my wedding trousseau,it is a lovely combination of red, gold, purple with a hint of yellow; Ritu Kumar's colours all the way! I teamed it up with my mother's jewellery- kundan and pearls, one of my favourite pieces of jewellery from her collection. I believe, the gajra uplifted the entire look and thank God I wore one. It becomes literally impossible to find those flowers in peak December winter. I had to pay a handsome ransom for it, but I guess it is now paying off!!!"
Olive green-gold Chantilly lace saree for the evening before
Astha says "My sister in law (the bride) is Christian by religion and a night before the wedding day, the couple had their Christian wedding with just the family and close friends around them. I wore a Chantelle green lace saree, which was bought by my mother in law from Dubai. I teamed it up with my mother's diamond and ruby set to give a little break in the outfit (I did not wear my jewelley on either of the days as flying jewellery down to India becomes a problem during immigration)"
My most vivid memory of my brothers wedding was seeing my husband Tushar interact with my family. Being the first wedding after mine, It was special to see him be a part of the family. I had flown in to India earlier than Tushar and he missed his flight the day he was supposed to fly in because of the snow storm in London. I almost thought he wouldn't make it. Eventually he did and the glow on my face (as everyone commented) evidently speaks it all!!
