Some of the simplest design ideas spring from unassuming places and interesting things. And if there's one thing that's really been consistent at Mehendis in particular, it's gota decor. Every year, it gets an update, an upgrade and it's totally cheap and easy to work with. So while we were languidly trawling one of our favourite instagrams, we found 3 cool DIYs every girl can make with gota patti. Take a look! *Easy peasy stuff, honestly!
Gota hangings and a sweet gota wrap
We saw this cutie on Abhinav Bhagat's insta and we couldn't help but notice how simple decor can be if you incorporate gota. First up are the hanging garlands - buy a gota flower and add a mogra garland to it - simple! Gota flowers come at Rs 40 each and they're so so sweet. The second one which is part of the picture is the way in which gota patti thread is used to wrap a boat (in this case, but you can use it on anything!) Cost: Gota flowers (big) Rs 40 each ( 8 x 40 = 240); Mogra garlands: 40 bucks each ( 8 x 40 = 240).
Gota Dreamcatchers
Goat dreamcatchers? What are those? Just add gota motifs to a sewing ring and just let them flow!! This one's so simple! Cost: Sewing ring: Rs 120; Gota motifs: Rs 110 ( pack of 30)
Gota Cushions
Take any plain-coloured cushion and just glue the gota motifs on them. Easy and effortless!!! I mean, get the cushion-covers according to your colour theme to add drama. Cost: Cushions with plain-covers ( from home FREE); Gota motifs: Rs 110 ( pack of 30)
Gota strings
Gota strings are so cute and super easy to make. Get thick thread and stick your gota patti motifs on them. Cost: Gota motifs: Rs 110 ( pack of 30)
Gota Centrepieces
Stick up these gota motifs inside a big glass jar and add tassles and flowers to make it pop as a simple centrepiece! Cost: Big Glass Jars: Rs 250 each; Gota motifs: Rs 110 ( pack of 30)
