"The #Nishaanki Shaadi, in a nutshell, was very reflective of our style as a passionate, fun, colourful, and fearless couple. Having been together for over five years by the time we got married, we knew exactly what we wanted and were very fortunate that the parents supported our decision to plan our own wedding. They, obviously, worked tirelessly to implement our concepts and ensuring every detail was as perfect as possible!" says Nanki.

From The Bride:  "We wanted a royal wedding and were so fortunate to get it! As a couple very much focused on gender equality, we ensured I, as the bride, got my baraat on a tractor and Ishaan had his on the elephant! At the Sikh wedding, we walked side by side as we took our vows since that is how we see ourselves live the rest of our life. Ishaan was fearlessly bold in his colour choices and I actually played the dhol during the chura event! We tried to keep it to a 220 guest list to ensure everyone played a role in the intimate (by Indian standards!) wedding. Ishaan had 12 groomsmen and 1 best man (his brother, Sparsh Dhurka), while I had 11 bridesmaids, all of whom were colour-coordinated in mauve and sea green for the Sikh wedding. We enjoyed a relatively minimalistic yet very colorful and befitting décor setting for all events to ensure everything was done very elegantly and the palace stood tall in all its glory," adds Nanki. "The beauty in planning our own wedding was that we felt very liberated to include our own touches. My mother, Sharon Walia, organized Mehendi booklets for sing-along wedding songs for everyone, which also included a beautiful poem written by her for Ishaan and I. We also designed and created the invites ourselves including paintings made by my mother. Given the value of sustainability that we stand for, the majority of our cards were e-cards to not waste paper!  I also wrote, designed, and created the welcome letter and itinerary, with background paintings made by my mother… all to add personal touches to our event!" says Nanki. "As for my bridal outfits, my mother was primarily in charge of getting it all together. I wore a pink pleated dhoti dress by Sonia Khurana at my Mehendi and a Cream long gown with some bling on it by Ridhi Arora at my Cocktail. My pre-wedding shoot outfit was a Mint green and gold gown from a boutique in Jalandhar while my Sikh wedding outfit was a replica of my mother's wedding suit in lighter colours designer by her (Sharon Walia) and made in Jalandhar, Punjab. My Hindu wedding outfit was an Orange and blue lehenga with hand embroidery by Sonia Khurana and my Reception outfit was a purple velvet Victorian-style gown by Ridhi Arora worn with gold and purple sandals by Swati Modo" says Nanki. "As for the Groom’s outfits, Ishaan was very involved in conceptualizing his outfits working very closely with his amazing designers. The Mehendi outfit was a Bright pink deep neck kurta and cream dhoti pants by Pranay Baidya with Tom Ford gold enlarged aviators worn with Gold/Cream Juttis designed by Rohan Arora. The cocktail Supply Suit (cropped pants) and check Suit Supply suspenders worn with blue bright velvet Tom Ford bow tie, Hermes classic black belt and Salvadore velvet shoes (assembled by Ishaan). The Sikh wedding outfit was a White Sherwani with Gold Embroidery on the collar and a statement motif at the back. Add bright Pink juttis with gold embroidery designed by Rohan Arora and a Light Pink Turban and he looked dapper. The Hindu wedding had him sporting a Heavy Peach and Orange Sherwani and his Reception outfit was a Classic White Tuxedo by Pranay Baidya," explains Nanki.
