A stylish Catholic- Punjabi wedding in Bangalore

BY The WMG Bride | 04 May, 2015 | 2 views | 3 min read

Excuse us while we pick our jaws off the floor after seeing some of these photos. Shot by Anup J Kat, that one photo with the coffee cups all around this good looking couple is absolutely insane. Add to the mix a bride who designed everything in her wedding right from the invites to the wedding monogram, a twinkling wishing tree and a pretty pink  wedding lehenga, and you have got the perfect recipe for this catholic-Punjabi potboiler.

Meet Charlene and Aditya

Charlene recounts" My husband Aditya and I met at a work event of mine. We had the MOST awkward introduction ever but it was love at first sight for him ( he doesn't agree but I know :)). The next day he took my number from a common friend,  we got talking and decided to meet. Our first date was nothing short of spectacular. And now here we are, Married."

Since I'm a designer I personally designed everything for the wedding. The wedding monogram, the invite and all the creative & visual elements.  There were times when I felt like we had 2 jobs because we would finish work, get home and have all these excel sheets and presentations open. It was a mixed culture wedding. He's Punjabi and I'm  Goan. So planning it was a nightmare. We didn't want to have an over the top wedding; so we kept the Catholic wedding simple yet elegant in terms of decor and the Punjabi wedding bold with a ton of colours. It was really simple choosing my wedding gown because I've dreamt about it since I was a little girl. I went to a few stores here in Bangalore just to figure out what silhouette would suit me best and once I figured that out it became easier to look for gowns online. I ended up loving the Maggie Sottero 'adorae' gown and my cousin picked it up for me from Canada. The Punjabi wedding outfit was quite challenging to pick up. I had to wear a Lehenga and I don't wear Ethnic clothes at all so going into stores and meeting designers was a little over whelming. I didn't even know what colour I wanted it to be.  I literally went to every store in Bangalore until a friend then recommend that I check out Mysore Silk Udyog's Bridal collection. We were in there for a while but I walked out with a Lehenga. I love it because it doesn't have very heavy work but it looks so chic and princess-like. I decided to get my blouse stitched separately and my friend Shradha ended up doing such an amazing job of it.
