A Brides Guide On How She Took Care Of Her Outfits Post The Wedding ....

Alright , so I got married a while back and after all the fancy-ness died down and the lehenga gave way to everyday jeans, I was left with piles of gorgeous (ad expensive) clothes without knowing how to store them. Here are my tips on what works and what doesn't.

Get saree bags from your trousseau packer.

One of the things that really helped were getting saree bags from my trousseau packer. Not the plastic ones- they apparently are not supposed to be good for your sarees (who knew sarees need to breathe?) 

Wrap your lehenga in a pillowcase / muslin cloth / old dupatta

If your lehenga came in a fancy trunk, congratulations. Mine didn't and I was left wondering what to do with it. I folded it in half, and gently covered it with an old muslindupatta and kept it at the back of my closet. This way, the embroidery stays protected, and doesnt go black.

Place A Paper between the lehenga /saree while folding

Get a sheet of butter paper, or just regular paper and place it where you are folding the lehenga so that the two sides don't touch. This way each side of the embroidery will touch the paper and not the other side.

How to fold the Can Can

One of the things about wedding lehengas- protect the can can !!! You don't want it to break and spoil the look of the lehenga,  so you need to fold your lehenga not in the middle of the can can, but do a fold before the can can starts.

Cute Handpainted Trunks Are Great

Another great way to store your lehenga is to put them inside cute hand painted trunks. We love these ones by Trunks of joy -by Ruhani Arora★ 2

Zari on Zari = Clothes ruined

So true. Don't pile embroidered clothes one on top of each other. They will cause the zari to go black or catch in each others fabric.

Don't Hang The Skirt

Don't hang your wedding lehenga. It's heavy , will touch surrounding areas, and since you aren't going to take it out a lot , you want to keep it in a cool, dry and dark place. 

Blouse & Dupatta Storage

Your blouse has inbuilt cups and if you store it, chances are something heavier will be plonked on it and the cups will be ruined. Instead get your blouse to be hung along with the dupatta.
