Sure, your partner completes you, but no one gets you quite like your siblings, especially brothers do. They’ve been there through thick and thin, good days and bad, and all the messy breakups and makeups in your life. Each member has numerous duties but the brother of the bride is one of the most important members in the bridal party.
P.S Tag your brother on this, he deserves to know his to-do list! :)
1. Buying her the most kick-ass gift ever!!! (Especially if you are the elder brother)!
2. Before anything, being the driver for your sister to her umpteen shopping trips, parlour appointments, vendor meetings and parties!
3. Being the sister’s support system at home when it comes to fighting for venues or dance songs for sangeet or maybe just a shoulder to cry on when she packs her bags!
4. Taking care of all the pre-preps in the wedding – Is the wedding arch put up? Has the alcohol been delivered? Is the pandit coming on time?
5. Walk you down the aisle or mandap. Holding the phoolon ki chaddar is one of the most important moments for a brother in the wedding.
6. Making sure the alcohol scene is sorted.
7. Welcoming the groom’s family. Some of the Indian rituals include washing the groom’s feet before the wedding, applying tilak or simply just ushering them to the mandap and that's where the brother scores!
8. Ensuring the bridesmaids have a great time .
9. Being the point of contact for all the bride’s friends – your parents will have relatives badgering them already.
10. In case of a destination wedding, going ahead a day prior to check up on all arrangements and bookings.

11. Making sure all her favourite songs are there on the playlist for the cocktail/sangeet night!
12. Being the ‘Jack’ in all the sangeet dances! If anyone backs out – you are the replacement.
13. Re-confirming with all the vendors like photographers, videographers, DJs and making sure they land up on time.
14. Managing all the intoxicated chachas and being the bartender for all the young cousin sisters who are too shy to go to the bar!
15. Pulling the groom’s ear (Hindu ritual) –warning him to take care of his sister!
16. Hatching a plan with his sisters to rob the groom’s shoes!
17. Carrying the doli or walking her down to the car. The teary moment for each brother!
18. Dancing your ass off at her cocktail party! After-all your sister gets married just once.
19. Take a moment and spend it with your sister. It could be a pre- wedding dinner with her or a handwritten letter or maybe a video where you tell her how much you will miss her!
20. Taking your brother-in-law out for a drink before the wedding and giving him all the goss about your sister ( the good gossip, mind you!) and being his right-hand throughout the wedding.
Most important, be with her! Weddings are scary at times given the huge transition for the girl. Most brothers miss the actual wedding ceremony because of something going wrong in some party of the venue- but we suggest that you skip everything and be there at the altar or mandap when your sister gets married. Nothing is worth missing this moment for!
