Picnic By River Siene , Paris
In Paris but don’t want to spend a bomb in any 5-star dining? Have a romantic picnic by Champ de Mars. You can carry your own picnic basket which you can customize with whatever you like - a baguette, a little cheese, a charcuterie plate, some fresh fruit, and, of course, a bottle of wine! Choose to go just before sunset so that you can wait back for the free light show at the Eiffel Tower. Beginning at twilight and continuing hourly, this spectacular show lasts for five minutes and sees around 20,000 individual light bulbs all over the tower blink on and off, lighting up the city below. Best of all, watching this impressive sight won’t cost a thing!
Throw a coin in The Trevi Fountain, Rome
Glacier Express in Switzerland
This isn’t exactly cheap but it is quite reasonable given swiss standards and the experience it offers. The slowest yet the most scenic and romantic train route in the world. Glacier express connects two major mountain resorts of St. Moritz and Zermatt in the Swiss Alps. You won’t get bored during 7.5 hour journey as you tour over 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass on the highest point at 2,033m while watching (and snapping) breath-taking alpine landscapes outside the window. Can there be a more romantic way to spend your train journey? Tickets start at $146 per head which is close to 9.5k.
